I have to disagree about platinum though.

Plat is still king . I can be casual, not raid much,
but since I get millions of plat I can buy high end loot and equip BiS gear without the need to raid. Its the only way to compete with hard core raiders without actually raid.

Imagine the greatness of plat guys: you can have a girlfriend, enjoy RL like it should be enjoyed, yet you can eventually get kael-raided, King T, Yelinak, heck even tov loot right-bought gear for plat

Plat is far from useless, if you use it wisely ie dont buy velious gear now when its expensive

Now compare the usefulness of holding a SoD?

Plat only buys so much, not everything is for sale. No one is going to sell you a Jaled's Katana or something that rare.
