Lots of anger and anti American sentiment. What Sektor said is true, if we wanted your crappy "sport" we'd own it.

further, Spain and England have minor economies relative to the USA
i'm sure you'll agree yet they manage to pay a soccer player more then the USA manages to play their top football player if you guys ever nurture the perfect player, he'd be playing for chelsea or barcelona [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Soccer is in their culture and revenue comes from all over the world, not only their economy. The US culture isn't interested in soccer. If it was it would be the focus of high school and college sports which would in turn generate amazing players that would dominate world competition. As long as soccer isn't a part of our culture and the US ignores it then they obviously won't be good at it. It is the same reason the US isn't good at cricket or rugby. A country can only dominate so many sports and our culture chooses football, basketball and baseball over all others. It isn't reasonable to think a significant % of the US population will apply themselves to a sport no one else cares about, dedicating their lives to a sport no one comes and watches or supports, with the end goal of moving abroad even though they could make more money doing that. Our society lacks the support, competition or infrastructure for soccer because there isn't enough interest. Get over it.

Let's take a look at the list. First off, If you sum up USA players salaries vs the rest of the WORLD... the difference is drastic. Second, the whole "world" follows soccer, which is a gross exaggeration, but lets roll with it. That means 7 BILLION people are following and supporting the sport while only 320 Million people follow (also a gross exaggeration) and support US sports. If 7 billion people follow soccer, why are they only paying there best players 55 Million? Lastly, take a look at the richest athletes ever and get back to me. Spoiler alert David Beckham is #15 on the list. http://www.therichest.com/top-lists/...hest-athletes/
