How often would you say wealth is amassed in the absence of income?

And I answered your question with a question, the answer to which we both know.

Admit defeat!

free college = degrees that are worth what a current high school diploma is, and they're already losing worth now.

And people will have to go to school into their 20s for that degree that isn't worth anything.

Not that college isn't stupidly expensive now. It's fucking ridiculously expensive and it shouldn't be allowed. But making public colleges completely free will make their degrees worthless so you have to wonder if we'd really gain anything.

A diploma already doesn't mean anything, its what you do with the education that matters.

Aint nobody fuckn hiring dumb people, because they have a diploma.. they hire smart people, with diplomas... it wont change the worth of a piece of paper that already has no worth in modern society.

Seems to be how its done these days. Combined with a willingness to relocate where the money is being offered. Out towards Michigan they have a lot of under qualified guys coming in making 61-71k just because its some kind of State subsidy.

I grew up with a real powerhouse high school class. It was a private school with good standing, and it seemed like everybody was going to a big entitlement school where just earning the BA opens doors (like it used to, like its supposed to...) Me and a few of my crew ended up at normal state schools, which was good I guess to get some REAL life experience I can offer my son someday. Been an interesting time.

Having acquaintances and peers going to big colleges definitely fucks with you. It probably took me longer to get the focus needed to graduate from my state school because I'd always held it in low regard because I didn't have the grades to compete.

I think being exposed to people who were having big opportunities handed to them took some of the wind out of my sails. It took me a long time to start to form my own sense of self, and my own identity. Still working on it. My perception is definitely vandalized. I'm not jealous of anyone, and I have met people jealous of me (misinformed people or really struggling).

Elite private schools can be really toxic if you can't compete. I met a friend in state college who came from the same background I did. I thought he was bullshitting when he told me his entire class went Ivy league. I looked it up, and he wasn't kidding. I try to remind myself if this guy can mentally get over that, I can suck it up myself and stop looking down on everything.
hah I just went to a public school. My parents offered me private school, but the high school I went to actually had good technical classes. I took 5 semesters of electronics [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] had an excellent teacher, couldn't get that class anywhere else at the time. Couple semesters of programming though all schools were picking that up at the time (cutting edge hehe). Couple semesters of technical drafting (another exclusive class in the district).

Though put that all down out of high school for about five years as I did carpentry until the construction crash, though drafting was very useful at that time. Mostly worked on custom homes. Built my own in fact. Then went back after tech again which took a lot of training and schooling as I moved along. Telecommunications was my thing for the most part. Likely you are accessing this server by way of a program I wrote for a machine to cut out a part that got shoved into a box between point A and point B hah. I'm sure it's still there, and probably will be for the next 5 decades lol.
