Its the principle. Again, it is not the only reason. But it irritated a large amount of people because it was a NEW CHANGE and barrier to entry to checking the server out.

Devnoob's old boxes never required an .exe change etc. Its annoying and nukes the folder harder than R99's custom files.

You could play on Devnoobs old boxes WITH R99's custom files. Maybe you aren't understanding the difference?

R99 custom files did not prevent you from logging into other servers. Devnoobs custom client will prevent you from logging into R99. That is a big distinction.

the /who all <insert zone> showed who was in that zone even if they were anonymous so it was easy to see where people were

not completely true, people used the non anon system to hide from pvp on vztz, classic scenario was farming chardok with 2box and have a key setup to /who all burningwood and whenever you saw a squad coming, you simply finished your business and camped out by the time they got there.

many of those things look good on paper but in reality such things can be exploited reverse and they always were

vztz was more fun in overall but i believe that was due to the player base being a cooler bunch of dudes, r99 is too competitive. if you're not a 100lbs 16 year old starting out in college or a unsuccessful social reject you have zero chances of making it

voted vztz as it was more fun but r99 definitely has a solid code and i love those antihax even though there's a bunch of people out there running mq the majority isn't so its good

Its wierd. I had more fun on vztz but if i had to choose Id probably choose red. I think stability/support speaks volumes in peoples choices to play a server. Lag, zone crashes, hacks, bugs, exploits, non itemized mobs/quests, roll backs, wipes... no thanks

if this wasn't the case, pop would be higher

if pop was higher people could do better without neckbearding (tunnelquest for example)

I did play classic. Had some nice gnome randomly give me gems. Did /who all count after playing in a dead zone for 5 hours and saw 16 online and never returned.

Idk. I remember live veluous, luclin, pop, it was constant raiding or AAs farming for top guilds. Ill speak for myself but time commitment is nothing like live. Can raid 3 out of our 4 days and still get vulak loot. We even tslking about raiding only 3 days a week
