Server could be awesome but its exactly how the majority of the players want it.

in a few months when most of the zerg burns out on raiding and their pop starts to dwindle the resistance could rise.

The tomato has spoken!

But seriously, he's right. The server IS EXACTLY what the players have made it. You guys can keep blaming Empire, but two things:

If the guild you're in was on top rather than Empire, it'd be because you won the zerg contest. If you claim you'd stop recruiting players when you reached a certain point, you're a damn liar or a terribly inept leader. A guild DIES on a server this small when it closes recruitment because player attrition is too high and the recruitment pool is too small.

Secondly, Empire may be recruiting all of the players, but they wouldn't have anyone to recruit if those players weren't willingly choosing the easy route. Face it, we are not teenagers / young adults in the year 2000 any more. The population here is very niche, and it's filled with aging gamers that have responsibilities now. I know this more than most. I was one of the biggest neck beards on Fennin Ro back in the day, now I can barely log in and resort to begging for fungis on the forums. There was a chance for a better server while Fresh was still around. Leaving to join the likes of Jib and Lite was a TERRIBLE call. Max may be a little psycho, but he's absolutely right.

The second chance was with TMO coming over from blue. Hell, had we allied with CS we would have been fielding comparable raid sizes to Empire. TMO had an abundance of talented raiders that have been doing this content since some of you were in diapers, while CS had the PVP experience from being here longer. It could have been a magical union.

people want to blame Empire but there's no other guild that recruits / advertises based on a set raid schedule that accomplishes pve goals. you're not even giving other people an option.

Just because empire has the opportunity to raid on a set Warcraft style schedule doesn't mean Empires style is the figurative block trying to fit into the red99 circle.

Current state of the server was decided months ago in kunark when velious was announced and Empire recruited to field a Velious size raid force. No other guild thought ahead to what they would need to kill mobs in velious and didn't position themselves for success. Empire did. Everyone else sat back and cried about the zerg. Hard to call empire a zerg when yea its 90 people but those 90 people can barely kill AoW..

that's pretty much what i'm sayin tho. it doesn't take a genius to know that the metagame for velious endgame is numbers, i'm saying that and i'm one of the biggest idiots on the server. empire recognized this and quickly solidified their position at #1 while the rest of the server tried to take their 25 man warcraft guilds into velious and failed miserably.

just look at the state of the server. biggest mob the #2 guild's gotten in velious is golems, which are questionably even considered raid mobs.

I've been having more fun playing EQ with casual scum now than I ever did playing live or blue.
Spoken by the 2nd chair flautist of CS.

He plays a mean haste song.

Hyarth definitely had a pretty respectable beard(figuratively in game not sure about irl) back in the day. He is right the server is what you make it. If you aren't having fun then you have no one to blame but yourself. Maybe try another game if R99 no longer has anything to offer by way of fun for you.

The people that blame empire for the state of the server are about as retarded as those who complain about no one contesting.
