You might reconsider your source for those statistics which has been debunked by this paper. Gun ownership was more prevalent than what you claim.

.223/5.56 is a legal caliber to hunt deer and small game in my state. FMJ is illegal to hunt with in most states. Additionally .223 and 5.56 is a very small round, kinda like a .22LR on steroids if anything it is considered by most hunters to be UNDER-powered for big game hunting.

TL;DR Only a nutty liberal with a poor understanding of the 2nd Amendment and firearms in general would think a AR15 is overpowered to hunt small game with.

Many states have bans on small calibers and carbines for this reason. It was deemed inhumane to hunt with anything less than a big bore for big game hunting. This is in the most redneck of fly-over midwest states too, yeah, some rednecks they are. The nerve of them to make it illegal to hunt with small calibers.

I personally maintain a .457 using 280+ grain but I don't hunt anymore. No point.

PS- FMJ isn't illegal to own under federal law only ARMOR-PIERCING ammo is. Most modern rifle ammo used for hunting (FMJ or NOT) can pierce typical body armor but is exempt i.e. .30-06, .308, .270 etc.

A few handguns have been demonstrated to penetrate body armor, i.e. the 5.7. So its not like armor piercing is some kind of hallowed ground that can be regulated. Plenty of civ carbines like you said are popping anything not plated. The regs on armor piercing is just for bullets specifically designed and marketed as armor piercing, its a gimmick.

Ironically, the 5.7 is considered garbage for self defense for the same reason it can penetrate the body armor. Its another 22 LR on steroids piece of shit designed and engineered for full automatic weapons. I'd still carry it for SD because it may as well be fully auto mini-rifle rounds the way you can stick-fire the fuck out of it. Also one of the loudest sounds you will ever hear too, and that counts for something in SD when dealing with large crowds/bystanders/additional aggressors.

Armor piercing means shit. Its military industrial complex scare talk. If you aren't wearing plate as an officer or enlisted you are wrong, poor, or a combination of both.
