Up close, no one.
Outside looking in, the server.
Simply allowing RMT would produce such a drastic increase on farming that would easily take its toll on any population

Daybreak games solved RMT by selling krono for RL cash and allowing it to be sold for platinum. WoW solved RMT the same way. In fact almost every game now has a legitimate means to RMT. Hell, for a while Diablo 3 had an auction house you could just straight up buy items from people for money that was accessible in game.

The solution was to get their cut. That isn't an option here.
Lets not forget theres really only 1 server that even uses plat and thats firiona vie.

i thought with such low pop, server in kunark for 5 years, and most players being logged in for 12 hours a day, farming is a given and already at max

none of those solved the RMT problems. They just legitimized turning the game into a job for some people and having those types of players in a game is never a benefit for the community. Like you said, they just wanted a cut, but the problem was still there.

Blizzard removed the auction hall from Diablo 3, because it was ruining the game.

I agree the auction hall ruined the game, but not the RMT part of it. Just the whole concept of an AH for in game gold or RMT turned the game into total dogshit and it took multiple years and more or less a complete redesign of the game to fix it.

As for the MMORPGs, I guess "solving" the problem is relative. For a company the amount of time spent by CSRs on RMT related things probably dropped by a huge amount, and their profits went up. I'm sure the brass over there considers the problem solved.

I disagree. Krono are a huge part of the economy on the TLP/TLE servers which are easily the most popular right now.

Well, I know the population took another dip with each RMT effort in EQ2. Games and company tanked, so problems not solved.

Players generally don't fear the punishments. Either thinking they are to smart and will get away with it or think the companies don't punish players so there is no risk.

Public naming might go a long way to changing that perception.
