So because I disagree with a set of items that was meant to only drop for a short period of time at the beginning of the server suddenly being given out en masse to anybody able to /loot a corpse in EC (including characters not even high enough to zone into fear) it makes me an overly competitive and elitist douche who doesn't play respectably? How does that make any sense?
You know this has nothing to do with your opinion and everything to do with your attitude and motives. You know you came to this thread to shit on this GM event because other people had fun at the expense of your unobtainable item exclusivity. You can say that it was the drop rate, the lack of challenge, the lack of a level cap (which is just plain BS.. Classic planes had no level requirement), or anything really. It just doesn't change the tone of your post and the greater point that you are getting at which is "You guys screwed us first-ers by making rust/cryo robe drop again." It's all about the need to lord over others the fact that you were the first/only person to get something. If it wasn't you would be satisfied with the sense of accomplishment you got from doing the hard work.. which you obviously aren't.

I also personally trust Rogean's judgment on the impact of the bugged drop rate over you hyperbolic "being given out en masse to anybody able to /loot a corpse in EC" description. I know you don't like/trust most of the dev's here, but TBH that isn't my problem.

This server is indeed great. It's mostly just as good as classic, I usually don't see the difference. I just think that this event didn't have the same quality as the overall server quality.

Thanks to the server staff for a fun event! I think most of us silent majority appreciate what you did [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

As a professional game programmer, I cannot overstate how impressed I was at how the server performed.

Thank you for the event and the work you put into the server.

The script that determined loot ran on more mobs than we intended. Yes, a mistake on our part, one I have admitted already. I've already said it won't happen again, and we can't go back and just remove items. There's a few things we learned from this event that we can use to make future ones better.

You can continue berating me or you can deal with it and move on.

A few things to note:

The event wasn't planned. It wasn't decided to do an event until maybe an hour or two before it actually happened. At that point, we had to generate a few NPC Types and I had to write a few scripts to control it all. A range of items was generated as well as borrowed from the last gnoll event (Lustrous, etc).

The scripts were written to replace normal npc's in the zone with werewolves, and then another script was written to add loot. Had I known how many mobs it would affect we would have put more limitations on the script.

A few dozen players getting one or two pieces of lustrous isn't going to kill the game.

There were no cryosilk robes given out.

I tried to do something nice for the server on short notice, unplanned. We learn from running these events to make sure the next one goes better. Yes, more loot was given out than we intended, and it won't happen again, but it's not like at this point we're going to go back and remove all the pieces that were looted.
