In 100 years I hope people just reference the Rolling Stones and other "British invasion" bands as a bunch of white kids who got rich singing old blues songs written by mostly dirt poor black Americans.

British musicians/bands wrote the book on music in the 60s/70s/ (maybe 80s). You can keep your rap/hip hop [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I'm an old fart so I go back a bit with what I like,
The Beatles started it all for me, and the Stones are ancient and still going. Cream were the original power trio. Clapton was a guitar god back then. 2 words, Pink Floyd. Led Zeppelin were HUGE. Still relevant on rock radio today. Black Sabbath influenced much of the grunge and stoner rock of the 90s. The Who, created a rock opera. Queen, created opera rock. Rush were the technical power trio that influenced Dream Theater, Tool, Foo Fighters and others. Van Halen were the arena rock kings with a real guitar hero that many tried to emulate. Yeah some bad hair metal came about in their wake but you can't blame them for that shit. I'm not much of an R&B guy but Stevie Wonder = musical genius, influenced most everyone. And the band that I followed around the country for years, The Grateful Dead. They spawned a community of homeless followers called Deadheads. They set a lot of trends with their parking lot vendors, different set lists each night, and concert taping. The jam band scene came about and filled the void when Jerry died and they stopped touring.
