I also love Malaysian items, their combination of coconut and curry creates pretty much the most amazing flavors possible.

But one thing I can not stand is hipster fucks who eat according to fads, whether it be only organic foods or this gluten free bullshit. Way too much posting falling into this group. If anything, a lot of posters here have a "pretty limited idea" of what a lot of stuff is.
I can completely relate to this. I'm pretty sure my uncle is a vegetarian just to be a pain in the ass. I recently cooked for a friend of mine who is both vegetarian AND gluten free. That sucked. What I eventually came up with was onion soup and a roasted pear salad. It took me about three hours to find somewhere that sold a gluten free baguette.

I'm also a huge curry lover. I have frequently called myself extremely omnivorous; I eat pretty much all food that's made of... food.

Pigs are nasty, mean animals. They will bite off your hand if you leave it in their face and they are hungry. Dunno why the 'whining' about using them as food.

On the other hand: Vegetables, Fish, Poultry - the MOST docile and non-aggressive life on the planet - for some reason people think it's less 'violent' to eat that all instead.

I mean - when you eat veggies - technically, you are still 'taking life', lol.

*ducks* for incoming flames~

That, and the idea of someone arbitrarily choosing to not eat a specific subset of food when people across the globe are starving...dicks.

There is a valid reason in history for the Jewish to avoid pork. Trichinosis was probably a lot more common problem.

And, ironically, a large part of my choice to forego meat was out of a sense of empathy to connect myself spiritually (if you will, though I suspect you won't) with those facing daily hunger.

I chose to forego meat, and to try to practice fasting, in part out of recognition that I, living in Land of Plenty, where "going to the market" means walking through aisles and aisles of GetAnythingIDamnWellPlease (air-conditioned, no less), might have reason to recognize, daily, that there are many in the world a hell of a lot less fortunate. In other words: I chose to become a vegetarian as an act of personal sacrifice.

So, in many ways, I respect, and perhaps even share, the attitude you display above.

On the plus side, however, I've lost substantial weight, have greatly increased my physical well-being, and I shit like a dream [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] The benefits to human plumbing of the veggie lifestyle alone make it worth the change!

Of course, it could also all be due to a very low level of hatred and rage in my life, but, that's just me. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Truth. Nothing quite like the experience of "the clean poop". Hell, I'm even saving trees!

I refuse to believe that my eating habits here have absolutely any effect on another countries people halfway across the globe. If I didn't buy and waste that lettuce would it have magically reincarnated somewhere else? I find the whole concept completely moronic and unrealistic.

If you want to help them, spend 6 months traveling and TEACH the common people how to grow or use resources more efficiently. Did you know you can filter water with a locally made clay type pot which will be effective and last years? You know you can grow crops in the desert?

Animal protein takes a lot of resources to produce. We'll probably all be eating a lot more beans in the future. Enjoy your beef while you can.
