HB def on the right track.

whether or not it's going to happen is another story.
anti MQ is the biggest necessity... once you have that.. you could make any custom PvP box thrive ..

if it's even close to VZTZ's "classic-ness" in terms of itemization with everything else HB has planned.. it will do very well..

Assuming that VZTZ was similar to roflzek in terms of damage and the way pets work and stuff, I hope it is closer to the R99 way.

All jokes aside, again let me reiterate. If you think this box will be the be all end of all Classic Everquest with every moss snake spawn point in Norrath correctly identified, and every gnoll pathing exactly like they pathed in 1999 then no, you're not going to have a good time. If on the other hand you're looking for fun PVP on a fresh server that's 80% classic with some bugs that will be worked on as reported, with classic resists, an EXP bonus but not instant 60, no hybrid exp penalty, some of the quality of life implementations that came in later, etc., then I think you can have a great time.

Look @ LOZ. Tons of bugs, [more than I'd hope for], not even remotely classic, and yet under one iteration was incredibly popular and would still be popular if not for some terrible dev decisions.
sounds good. You just finance a reputable member of the community and he directs the project with you having influence over it's direction, but you must maintain 0 administrative privileges. You'll get the box you want, with the stability you provide it with, and noone will be worried about their characters being deleted , stripped, or the server switch being toggled off anytime someone looks at you the wrong way. Shit, even I might play on that box.

No, no, no. Spells, damage will all be classic as possible [and of course if something isn't, we will have a forum you will report it, it will be changed]. The only "non-classic" things intentionally left in would be a couple of quality of life changes such as the Guild UI / Shared Bank / LFG, some custom events which really aren't non-classic as these were a daily occurrence on live, debating things like anonymous or searching zones to create more pvp, have some other ideas, but again, the "map" will always be classic EQ. Still too early to debate rulesets at this point, and when it's closer a forum will be made for people to voice opinion on said things.

What is your stance on revamped items/zones/drops?

For example, do you see the need to remove the pre-nerf guise and manastone or just let them keep dropping forever to avoid people missing out?

Things like this I'm a bigger fan of polling community, but personally, I like the idea of having it at the classic drop rates, then reducing them a la LoZ in order to keep a camp open that stimulates pvp. If you look at lower guk on red99 when MS was in, it was a constant hot bed of PVP. The day MS went out Guk turned into a graveyard with no one in it whatsoever. But again, I would likely to defer to community opinion.

What about raids, keep the respawns classic? Simulate repops? Add variance to the equation?

Props for starting this up! I agree with Lite. Undoubtedly Nihilum will infect the next popular box. What measures if any would there be to prevent a server that has a guild of 80/100 people trying to make this blue 2.0?

TLDR: Will you/staff allow one zerg to rule them all. Thanks!
