I didn't have high hopes for ESO... is the content at least good I knew the game mechanics would be terrible... did they outsource the world building/level design to North korea like I suspected?

If you want an easy mode action rpg with real pretty graphics then go to ESO. Only neat thing they did was have open world chests that anyone could run by and loot. Neat idea on paper but in reality ESOs version of neckbeards just sat at them for hours on end lol. Beta was fun for about an hour.
