Influx of new jerks? Or just old jerks emerging recently?

When I created this post, I didn't start it in RnF, it got moved by Derubael, I guess he thinks that's more amusing. Just pointing this out, because I wasn't trying to garner "negative" attention as RnF often does.

I was bored, server was down, and what I wrote was a small facet of some of the things I recently have witnessed or experienced. I understand why people treat others poorly, and why gamers here choose not to group with others regardless of the reasons behind those decisions. Does it make it OK? I guess it depends on your perspective.

My point was from my experience over the past month or so it seems that more people troll, act like jackasses, are rude to other players when in the past it was not so prevalent. Just an observation.

I have been in groups where people say, "what weapons does the rogue have?" And, literally would not group the guy because he had a 8/25 piercer at lvl 15. Sure. It's their choice. But it's a dick move. I don't have to explain why.

Fun to me is helping others and having enjoyable chat, while killing mobs. I get it. My fun is not necessarily others fun. To others, fun is trolling, being an asshole, and not grouping other people for trivial reasons and being a dick about about it.

The jerks are always around, but they are in the minority. You maybe saw more of them during the raid outage as there wasn't as much to do except group and farm, and then they were even angrier than usual.

EQ in 1999-2001 was a bunch of idiots banding together to get as far as they could based on caster's realm, everlore and retarded EQ folklore ("wisdom is success rate on tradeskills and intelligence is skill ups and dex affects fletching.")

We got a server now where the majority of the population has been studying the game for 15 years and they're all jaded, self-sufficient, and playing to win.

Yeah, I should have just kept my boredom from letting me post some of my frustrations. But, it's nice to see that some people remain civil while still being anonymous unlike some others.

And that was a good point, maybe some of the less mature players were angry because they couldn't raid and collect their pixels, so they were venting and being dickish while drowning in their own misery.

Unhappy people like to make others less happy. It's just natural.

HAHA, I totally do this shit all the time. Sorry, I guess I am an elitist dick as well. This is not my 7th alt, and this is how I ALWAYS played and continue to play the game. You like to play with whoever that shows up, that's great, and maybe you love it. I personally would not like playing in a group with 3 tanks and 3 priests, just so everyone can feel included.
It's like if I go down to the local rink for a pick-up game of hockey. I am not going to pick the guy with figure skates, just to promote the sense of local community.

I see nothing wrong with min/maxing MY group however I wish, it has happened for years, you are probably just running into more players that do it regularly since the raid ban was in effect for quite a while.

Oh and Tecmos solos Drusella. I mean he's at the top of the head when it comes to super uber elitists =-)
