also lacks soundcard, I refuse to use shitty onboard sound. Not sure how I feel about that rosewell PSU. I'd have to research that model.

1) ditch the sound card and save $30 or whatever, the integrated hd audio on your motherboard is probably better than some hella cheap sound card anyway, so it's counterproductive. If you are planning on some home theather setup asus makes a good $300 sound card that would be worth it, otherwise integrated audio on the board can handle whatever you throw at it.

2) what's the deal with all the 128 bit gpu's youre quoting? I would go with at least 256 on the interface, shit amd has a 768 7990

3) if you're getting discreet graphics, not much point in getting an apu over a straight cpu if you are leaning amd, but also not a big deal if the price points are similar.

Personally, I'm an intel man when it comes to cpu's, I think they charge you a brand fee and it's why I dont buy intel mobo or ssd or anything else, but when processor's they walk the walk, the thermals, the mtbd, the output, just about everything will come out favoring intel next gen processors

I'll put my i5 sandy up against any FX "8 core" piece of shit amd puts out, fact is its misleading advertising from them, you arent getting 8 seperate cores you arent even getting 4 cores.

I'd go with an i5 whether sandy or ivy they are miles ahead of amd's best, but that's me, hopefully you do your own research which extends a little further than checking prices on newegg.

When was the last time you got a new mobo? The onboard sound isn't to bad nowa days.

Get at least an i5, but an i7 w/ HT is so worth it.

would also not skimp on a case, it will cause you problems later in life or maybe early in life

rosewill not a great manufacturer imo

drop a little more and get a corsair 550D, it's the best mid tower on the market imo

if you want to go hard in the paint go for the 800D, best tower that exists imo

haf x semi-close 2nd.

Yea that would be a awesome idea for the build but idk how much he was trying to spend so I skimped on the case to save some money. My biggest thing was to get a solid cpu and mobo setup so he can further upgrade over time.

Here's a wish build I have with a little more budget, figure I'd throw in one of those silly premade water coolers for the cpu to take advantage of the overclockability of the i5 3570k, especially since that nice compact case has room for their branded water cooler. I'd probably add the watercooler and an extra fan to keep everything cool, I'll probably tinker around a little more to see if I can hit a sweet spot under the 1k mark(shaving off the blue ray player and going with a smaller SSD. mostly).

the only mobo id consider besides a gigabyte or asus would be specifically that asrock extreme4 z77 I've heard good things about, their brand is mostly shit it turns out, but they actually used quality parts in that mobo.
