Oh I remember for armor hunting for sky shrine faction.

You had to kill mobs in Kael arena or deeper.

Killing mobs in GD/WL etc did not give the faction you needed for armor turn ins for SS.

100% confirmed.

"Currently I am indifferent to all the mobs in lower SS. We journeyed all the way to Yelinak last night and everything remained indifferent. Including the dragons in the pyramid room. Yelinak was the only thing that conned hostile to us. Even the huge gargoyle guardians just outside his lair conned indifferent to me."

"I'm amiable to all the residents until "Komawin Fe`Dhar scowls at you, ready to attack" very high in the tower. There is a room with a pyramid in the center and 6 or 8 wyvern to the left and right (well out of aggro range I believe). This beast is one of them. I suspect he and the rest of the room is on Yelinak faction. I did see others still further in that were "amiable" again."

"I went way far into SS today. All the way to the big one himself, everything along the way was Warmly. Just Yellinak himself was KOS. Also anyone know where the guys are that give out the armor quests? I must have missed them along the way. "

"I haven't heard that he gives any quests, although he may, as VERY few people are not KoS to Lord Yelinak. It's unrealistic because Velious is controlled by dragons. Therefore, a trip to Western Wastes could see you kiss Yelinak faction goodbye."

You do recall having to farm Arena and deeper for the SS armor quest whereas Thurg, I believe, required just whatever giants you could kill, right?

What you're thinking of is different faction hits coming from the Kromrif and Kromzek giant factions. I believe Kromzek were the higher level mobs, such as in the arena, while many of the lower level mobs inside and outside of Kael were Kromrif. You needed Kromzek faction to quest the Kael armor, I think both Kromrif and Kromzek gave +Thurg faction where as only Kromzek gave +Skyshrine faction.

Yes, Arena (and deeper) giants have a different faction set (compared to the trash mobs at entrances). I think someone else already replied.

I don't remember clearly about the Manor building (and Iceshard Keep area) having this different faction.

Maximum: Yelinak/Tormax/Dain faction was required for armor quests for well beyond the Velious expansion IIRC, passed the release of Luclin. Your posts are an indicator. There are screenshots that are instant proof.

Currently, in research, I've only discovered 5 mobs that give a positive Yelinak faction hit. There are nearly a dozen that give a positive Tormax faction hit (mostly Coldain). And an almost equal number that give positive Dain hits.

This means that my recollection of how freakin hard it was to get Yeli faction is intact.

NOW, in researching I'm noticing a correlation between Dain and Yeli faction. Any mob that raised one, seems to raise the other. Any assistance helping prove/disprove that?

** Quest Changes **

- We've made a change to the Velious armor quests. The folks in Kael
and in Skyshrine that give out rewards for these quests are now being
stricter about who they will reward quest items to. You will have to be
considered an 'ally' (see Features section below) by these NPCs in
order to be able to complete these quests. If you are doing quests for
the Coldain, however, they are somewhat less picky, and they only
require that they consider you 'kindly' to reward you for your labors.

- There is a new /consider message: "regards you as an ally". This is
the highest level of friendliness that an NPC will register using the
/consider command. The faction required to reach this rating is
significantly higher than 'warmly'.

This thread also provides evidence that the Kael/Skyshrine quest armors come in an earlier less buff versions of themselves for the first 3.5 months of Velious, and then get buffed to the stats we currently know.

Thurg armor doesnt have a chain look.
Quest givers on Yelinak faction

You can charm the quest giving mobs in skyshrine, so Yelinak faction isn't absolutely a requirement.

Rumor has it, that currently it is possible to have a non-kos enchanter charm the Kael and Skyshrine quest mobs (Green at 55) and walk them out to zone to complete quests, indifferent faction is all that is required.

It should also be noted that any with sneak skill, can complete the quests with only dubious faction (Since they can get back there, and get indifferent with sneak)

First rumor is unchecked, second is fact, and has been done a few times.

Quest NPC for the Kael cleric armor is Vylleam Vyaeltor (located in room directly behind Tormax). Faction required is indifferent to Tormax (Dwarf heads to Bvellos, or kill Seneschal, Royal Guards, Dain, Velketor, or Yelinek for this). The quest npcs are low 30s in level and can be charmed. Faction needed to get there is Kromzek and Tormax. Components needed for the Quest are: 3 gems (varies with the piece) and the corresponding piece of ancient tarnished plate. Ancient tarnished plate drops in Temple of Veeshan of CoV factioned mobs (there's some right at zone in).

The quest givers in Skyshrine were recently changed from Yelniak to CoV faction, you only need to be indifferent to CoV to do the armor quests. Currently the only MOB in skyshrine that is Yelniak faction is Lord Yelniak himself.
