EDIT: here is a story on it

http://mashable.com/2013/01/28/eve-online-asakai/

"Gamers were agog this weekend when screenshots and videos of an enormous (and somewhat accidental) battle in EVE Online hit the web. All told, 3,161 players duked it out in the Asakai system; 222 ships were killed, resulting in a loss of 470 billion ISK (the in-game currency), according to EVE-Kill.net."

the other source i read said more assets were lost, either way thats some mass pvp

700+ billion isk lost

thats about $28,000 USD up in smoke.
That fight does look messy. How the hell as an individual player do you operate and say "ok, lets kill this over this"?

In fights like that there are normally divisions of 4-5 Fleet Commanders calling shots, either getting their targets from a lead FC or getting free fire commands and calling shit alphabetically.

I'd imagine the titans take priority in a fight like that. I've never flown in capital ops though so everything could be completely different.

here, have some purdy fleet screenshots courtesy of TEST.

BATTLE OF 49TACK

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

this was a pretty good fight, we were stealing sov from -A- and they started opening fire on our sov units! D:

This fight started with getting access to the -A- Starbase in the area and bumping them out of it and blowing them up.

It then turned into 600 nerds shooting structures so we could keep our hard earned space.

DHD's Rapecage

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

this one is pretty straight forward. -A- hid in a single station refusing to fight. They undocked and tried to abuse the invulnerability timer from undocking to taunt us; they lost 3 carriers in doing so.

This screencap is right before the jump to system.

sorry about the resolution it was on my old monitor.

Titan compared to Subcapital ships: This is what one of those big ships in Samwises screenshot look like compared to starting ships like frigates and cruisers.

Looks like a cool game, how is it for cheating/exploiting/RMT?

cheating is pretty much nonexistent. the way the game functions with everything serverside you can't really do much.

exploiting is pretty gray area, only thing really is botting which isn't bad if you're still at the computer (like multiboxing and using some automated commands)

RMT is punished pretty hard, especially considering you can "buy" isk from CCP (you can buy in game subscription tokens, PLEX, from CCP and sell them on the market. This is double edged, you can also play the game without paying for a subscription once you get enough isk gain.

But, if you're caught RMTing from the ruskies or whatever, they take whatever you bought out of your wallet. If you have less than what they took out, you go negative, which means no new ships, no ship repairs, no modules, no nothin.
