The issue that I take with progressivism / modern leftism is that it is a selfish destructive ideology differing in no substantial way but for its favored delusions from its sister conservatism. Both betray the interests of the whole in favor of the part.

If ever we are to escape this moldy rock and survive as a species we must acknowledge the painful truth that we are not all of equal value to society, irrespective of the groups we identify with and other members thereof. Some are more deserving than others, of reward, of punishment, of life, of death.

I take personal issue with playing God and using governments to decide the worthyness of people. From both a spiritual and philosophic perspective. (this is not a critique of you or your post, just my internal feelers)

I think people are intrinsically valuable. But I don't think we should try to measure and compare that worth outside of merit and achievements. I also think the weakest and unable deserve some comfort and compassion.

To some degree, the economy of people is important to fostering a healthy and competitive ecosystem.

In case you guys haven't noticed, no one gives a fuck about being "tough on Russia" anymore. Likewise, no one is scared of the dreaded communist spector taking over America either. Millennials are a larger generation than boomers and have a more positive attitude about the word "socialism" than "capitalism."

You can't look at the way things are playing out so far and think #1 is going to go down. It's pretty clear Pence & Ryan are running the show from a policy standpoint.

Sadly, the spirit of Ayn Rand is actually very popular in the US, and it mainly manifests as this fiscal conservative sentiment that anything you do to enhance the position of labor or regulate the private sector directly translates into killing jobs and ruining the economy. Ayn Rand really resonates in the US because we're a ruggedly individualist (and increasingly selfish) culture.

Also if people bothered to vote in the primaries and voter suppression didn't throw away millions of votes 1000 at a time from districts in a one sided "systemic" error. Trump wouldn't have got the electoral votes.

Our political parties both refuse to value integrity and honesty and promote enlightened ideals. They both serve special interests. And so no one is going to listen to anything accurate on either side. They're just going to pick the side they hate the most.

Anyway people are selfish, greedy, self centered and easily duped.
