Americans Moved to Low-Tax States in 2022

This population shift paints a clear picture: people left high-tax, high-cost states for lower-tax, lower-cost alternatives.

Oops. I guess they'll have to keep raising taxes to make up for the shortfall. But of course then more people will move. But just raise taxes again. I'm sure that'll work out just fine.

Idiots hahaha.
People who can't hack it in expensive, competitive places where go-getters congregate have to move to cheap shitholes? You don't say.

That said, California has a cost of living crisis, driven by NIMBYism, high taxes, and waste (it's more NIMBYism and red tape than taxes, but acknowledging this would require nuanced and non-tribal thinking on your part). But you're so desperate to view California as a shithole and taxes as bad that you come to the wrong conclusion. People aren't moving to these places because they are better, they are moving there because California isn't offering them enough, them specifically.

When the pole of economic dynamism shifts outside California, then you can say it's irredeemable. Europe got by just fine after dumping all its poor people in the New World.

Nobody is "desperate" to view california as a shithole. Most of the state is uninhabited wilderness which is some of the most beautiful geography in the world. The big cities which command all the economic and political capital are shitholes though, yes. All it takes is a cursory glance.

One might say you seem desperate to view california as totally good and dems as totally not responsible for it's impressive failures.

I am very pleased to have discovered Aussenseiter's trigger. His cunning has let him down. I now know his price. It takes the form of a tax.

Lune, excellent forum work. Now that's soldiering.

Trust me, as someone who grew up in a rich area of California that wasn't LA or SF, you're wrong.

You don't seem to realize how fucking huge the bay area and the LA metro are. Yes, they have shitholes. They have since long before it was popular to share GIFs of black people looting stores, and they will long after.

In total, California contributes the most individual taxes to the federal budget. As of the most recent tax year for which figures were available, Californians paid over $234 billion in federal income taxes. That's about 15% of the national total.

California is literally paying welfare for most red states.

Higher Education
Healthcare Quality
Low industrial toxin - low pollution in general
Number one in Venture Capital
Number one in Patent Creation Rate
Number two in Business Environment
etc

And due to DeSantis making FL hellish it feels Disney in California is that much less stressful and much more fun to visit.

Only Red (I should really say purple) state that compares is TX.
And Texas tops the list of worst places to live and work in America

I lived in LA in 2011-12. Of course there were discreet shithole areas, like there are in any city, but there were not block after block of homeless encampments, rampant unpunished crime and blatant open-air drug abuse.

Why are there "gifs of black people looting stores" in LA, Sanfran, NYC and Chicago but none from Houston or Dallas?

It's not a dick measuring contest, nobody is in favor of these things happening and everyone wants it to be curtailed, but the first step toward recovery is admitting you have a problem ya know?

Because the people who distribute these gifs have an agenda. Taxes bad! California bad!
