I remember trying to get mark of khan back in the day. Super rare off juggs, any copies which turned up in EC tunnel were sold for thousands of pp.

To get the 24 earth pet requires collecting the research drop parts and the level 20 pet spell, then successfully making the combine.
To get the 29 earth pet requires completing the above, collecting the 29 research parts, and completing that combine.
This continues for the 34, 39, 44, and for the mages who haven't rage quit, the 49 pet.
Any failure means starting the sequence over again. I think this was "fixed" originally because it just didn't work.

Does the requirement to be "classic" include having all the old bugs from EQ?

Maybe if the damn words we needed were more common it could be justified as just more classic challenge. I haven’t seen a single copy of words of coercion drop, not one. I’ve tried different camps/mobs people have reported seeing drops at. When a copy is offered for sale you need to give a kidney for it. And like you said you can easily just fail the combine anyways and the entire process starts again.

Anyone defending this system is delusional. It was changed for a reason.
