Self-esteem is important, but it’s more useful when it’s based around competence. Loving oneself despite being a complete useless mess might help keep one’s spirits up but isn’t going to do much to improve their situation in life

Ok, so, now I just wanna point out this thought.
You can only have "self esteem" of/in "yourself" and you're the only one who "can" have self esteem for yourself. The benefits (interpretation is there of) and the responsibility both rest 100% on your shoulders alone right? You all the credit AND all the blame.
You can have confidence in anything you feel you can trust. But anything but yourself comes with a disclaimer in life. More risk=more rewards?
