Even Judaism which goes back tens of thousands of years possibly had several reformations even rewriting the interpretation of god entirely from the ground up and absolutely neutering any Temple members ability to form an interpretation on their own. The current Rabi line is "you can never claim to know god' which is probably healthy progression given the technological advances that keep rolling in. Judaism is the one religion that has always changed with the times throughout history.
