it was simply stupid. most people i know who though they were "amazing pvpers" come from this era, where shit was so unbalanced it was lulz. rangers running around with aa points shootin shit for 1500k per arrow, when casters had 1500 hp self buffed, many lulz if you didnt do big pvp before luclin, you were shit on live, simple as that

"Verant from 1999 to 2001 and SOE from 2001 to 14 January 2004 issued formal statements giving some indications of the number of EQ subscriptions and peak numbers of players online at any given moment.[16] However, most of these announcements have been archived and are available only by seeking historical copies through online "internet archives" or other sources. Accepting both Sony's press releases and the internet archives available today as accurate, these records show a rapid rise in subscriptions to "...more than 225,000..." on 1 November 1999. Sony announced the achievement of 300,000 subscriptions on 30 October 2000. By 2 October 2001, Sony stated that there were "...over 410,000...". On 29 July 2002, Sony announced that there were "...over 430,000..." and that for the 1st time 100,000 had played simultaneously. In preparation for the Fan Faire of 2003, Sony announced on 25 September 2003, that there were "... more than 450,000..." subscriptions. With that single exception, from 13 March 2003 until the final reference on 14 January 2004,[16] Sony releases that contained numbers referred only to more than 430,000 subscriptions, and/or more than 118,000 simultaneous logins. This leaves the peak and current number of subscriptions for EQ to secondary sources." Contrary to your opinion... the game actually got bigger and bigger and the population continued to grow well past luclin, and planes of power. There was much more skill involved in fact. QQ. You just played a mage and post luclin unless you were really on top of your game (like did the Air DA clicky ring and had all your focii) mages got fucking rofl stomped. i'm assuming you were one of those.

Yeah and that totally had to to with good game play, not the fact that sony pumped in millions into marketing after they fucked a completely good game. Cuz all games who are big, are fucking amazing.
I was a mage, but most of us quit during this era, it was retarded in many ways. Instances, safe zones other goodies that elite pvpers would enjoy

some people adapted, was survival of the fittest. If you didn't get your AA, wrap your couch in plastic smedy and enjoy the aroma of mothballs.
PoP PVP was the sickest bloodbath. Ya rangers could do mad bow damage but thats why you had to max out your defensive AA. Lightning Reflex 5 and your G2G. As a druid I would get raped by melee, until i Maxed out my defensive AA. Also Smedy, you were in a shit guild fighting people with raid gear. QQ first over the gear gap, then you can QQ about the fact you chose not to develop your character. same thing on Classic, someone with raid gear will rofl stomp those without. derrr
