![]() TIL:"The phrase "Arose from out the azure main" is a line from the British patriotic song "Rule, Britannia!". It refers to the mythical origin of Britain, suggesting it emerged from the sea, specifically the "azure main" (a poetic term for the blue sea) at the command of heaven. The line emphasizes Britain's divine or chosen status and its connection to the sea"

![]() Punching down is easier dont you think cider? Taunting a journalist with muscular dystrophy as the captain of the best sporting team in the world is the opposite of classy...
Although i do agree its gone a bit stupid about not being able to laugh at stupid sounding people, like the rednecks from America. Londoners and the Belgians. About the only accents that are classy sounding is the Aussie Bogan and the native Antarctican. The rest should be fair game. Disclaimer there was a show called something like redneck scientists. I simultaneously laughed and was in awe of that shit they pulled off. Anywho, punching down bad. Making a clever pun vs someone of equal ability good. Hawking was arguably funny sounding, is he fair game?

Does this sound like anyone recently? He did not (punch down) because the (different) man was an arsehole. He punched down because the man in a position of power was the arsehole. I know you know of which I speak, this is what I mean by the term "punching down". So, is it ok for someone to punch down?
