I wasn't around back then but I enjoyed the read. Wish I could have been around to see the bugs. Remember in 1999 that wall in upper guk near the bridge leading to lower guk area? It used to hit you for 22k, damn that wall lol. I bet p1999 had some crazy bugs in the beginning.

Post #1 is a really accurate description of how all Devs that played ended up being treated.

Some deserved it.

Bumamgar, anyone? Leaking database info? Getting banned from other EQ servers for cheating then coming here and creating a mess.

Players are always suspicious when there are devs in guilds, but that's also been common on P99 since the server's inception. They stare at code and mull over scarce info on the web while getting no pay, and then get blasted on forums and in-game. They deserve a whole lot more credit than they get, but that doesn't mean they're not human. They're very much human and prone to mistakes. Regarding Raren, I remember getting my money back I lent someone to buy a manastone from Raren. Rogean caught him that night, gave me back my money (thanks) but then took two weeks to ban Raren... two weeks! And he wasn't even banned permanently because he was welcomed back a couple months later. Mistakes happened, and I'm sure they happen now and will keep happening, but one shouldn't jump to extremes. The GMs aren't gods and the devs aren't angels, but neither are they douchebags who are out to benefit only themselves.

I think that some of the crap Xzerion was getting was partly due to the other cheaters you were harboring, and for a very long time too -- I don't think you guys knew about it, though. I'm sure Tixel would have never given out the druid's info if she knew someone was just going to SEQ on it. I've never spoken to Xzerion, but he was a good dude from what I've heard and Uthgaard went paranoid and overboard, but I also recall 12-14+ people from IB getting banned for cheating as well. If anything, Uthgaard had his finger pointed in the wrong direction, but was certainly right to point a finger. It wasn't just IB either, but the entire server (we had 3 people caught and 1 app. One of whom was caught joined IB just a couple weeks after).
