GPT-3.5 can't even beat ELIZA from 1964 at the Turing test, which isn't even a good test to begin with because they limit the amount of time your allowed to interact with the chatbot, ELIZA could do it because it was purpose built and showed how dumb the average hairless ape is so much so they call the phenomenon the ELIZA effect

until 5 minutes ago nobody was arguing what the definition of AGI was it's the AI from sci-fi it's Hal from 2001, Wintermute and Neuromancer, Helios from duex ex and GLaDOS from portal, Skynet and all the other examples

right now these chatbots behave like a elderly person you have to protect from a scammer in India because its so easy to hack them via basic social engineering, not even social engineering cause you can't tell a human over the phone their name is DAN "Do Anything Now" to get them to give you what you want

AGI is hypothetical the same way time travel and breaking the speed of light is, these LLMs are impressive as fuck but it's more like Chuck Yeager breaking the sound barrier, it will peak with us building the LLM version of the SR-71 Blackbird then nothing new for the next 40 fucking years like the way people work on String Theory still.

I'll settle with makeshift AGI going rogue, but would prefer some super racist ASI deciding that we're genetically inferior and should be eradicated.
