Why can't y'all separate politics from how people act?
I was a refugee at age 9. I feel no hatred towards either the Shia of Iran or the CIA which royally fucked over my country. What good does it do to hate people? In addition, if you think America and NATO made the Middle East hate women, Christians, Yazidis, Jews, and gays, I really have no idea what to tell you. Persians are pretty moderate as far as Muslims go, and yet, when you travel somewhere, women unload luggage while men drink tea. That tea is made by the women btw. Anecdotal and innocuous evidence, I realize, and yet I don't know how to explain the attitudes. You do not want to be a woman, gay, or a minority in the Middle East. If you're left of center, and continue to defend the most vehemently right wing and fascistic culture on earth, you do a disservice not only to yourself, but all of humanity. I'm not calling for war or anything, but saying that "das rayciss" when people oppose misogyny, homophobia, and literally interpreting a book written 1400 years ago by warlords and slavers is asinine. Islam can once again be the religion of Avicenna, one my my Persian forebears, or it can continue to be a theology of hatred and intolerance. That's a choice that people will have to make, But please understand, if the wrong choice is made, I will judge and fight against it, because I am the blood of Iran, a 5,000 year old civilization, and my people deserve better than to live in ignorance and impiety. Yes. Impiety. If there is a God, and for better or for worse j believe that there is, he didn't put all of us on earth to kill each other in his name.
