Regarding squats/general gyming...

Dropping slowly gives the muscle a negative contraction component. A bit like the PNF stretch mechanism. You gain on the up and the down motion.

You are at the gym for 2 hours why only workout for ½ of that time. Maybe things have changed since i learnt my skillz.

A PT I had years ago was saying how good it was to count to 3 both going down and coming back up...slow it down and feel the burn!

You are describing eccentric versus concentric contraction. Consider the hamstrings in a squat. Someone correct me but In the down of a squat your hamstrings are contracting but the muscle bellies are lengthening as you reach the bottom. In a concentric contraction (the up part) the hamstrings contract but the muscle belly is shortening. There is also an isometric contraction where the muscle is contracting without an up or a down. All three are different stimuli and produce slightly different adaptations. Eccentric contraction tends to cause more soreness but like you said you gain on the up and the down. A practical upshot of knowing this is that if you are just sore as fuck but need to train something you can just do the concentric part of a movement hard as a workaround.

Ate one of those chicken + broccoli + potatoes pre-prepared meals at the grocery store (they’re a bit better quality than the typical processed tv dinner tray) last night and got pretty fucking sick

Stomach was tying itself in knots for about 6 straight hours resulting in no sleep. Then when it was time to get ready for work the diarrhea came. I was pissing pure liquid (tried drinking Gatorade and water just to stay hydrated) out my ass at LEAST 15 different times, spaced roughly 30 minutes apart for the next 12ish hours

Obviously I called out of work. But in addition to pissing pure liquid out my ass for the ENTIRE FUCKING DAY today, I also had aches all over like I was super sore but muscles I hadn’t lifted. And zero energy. I couldn’t even get up to feed my cat, felt bad

That was pretty brutal. I am thinking of fishing the package out of my trash and bringing it to the grocery store and saying what gives! You fucks poisoned the shit outta me, literally. But I lack the energy for that as well, as it involves getting up

Also I have not been able to eat anything other than a protein shake since which I promptly pissed out my ass. I might have to miss a second day of work over this bullshit

I've been tempted by those at Safeway but thought it was kinda weird they put a raw ribeye steak next to a dressed potato.

The real purpose is selling leftover hot case scraps.
