Your mind is playing tricks on you! I didn't say "every single thing every person has been doing for the past 50,000 years is correct". Obviously, that would be dumb and progress is clearly possible. However, the burden of proof should obviously fall on the people proposing the new ideas to prove they are making things better, not worse. It's so self-evident I barely even know what else to say there. I would quote Chesterton's Fence but this concept is even more basic.

This test was actually done back in 1919 when men were men. They pureed the lungs of people who had died of influenza and sprayed it into the noses of healthy volunteers. Nothing happened. In fact there were quite a few experiments done and all came up negative.
