I think the idea that humanity is among the first sapient civilizations is really interesting, though obviously I cannot prove it. There's a lot of evidence that we're still in early days in universal terms as I (poorly) understand it. Like 95% of stars that will ever exist already exist, supposedly. Granted, that 5% is also probably quadrillions of stars over trillions of years.

Obviously that could be way off, but I also suspect that if aliens are coming odds are we're screwed, if they're anything like humans at all.
