I'm glad they didn't call it Daggerfall.

I have Daggerfall and can play it anytime I want. Good game. Think it's better than Morrowind in some aspects; like the size of the map and the non-linear feel of things; climbing, playerships, playerhouses, random dungeons and random quests, go and do your own thing and make your own story, etc. But Morrowind has a lot of things to do too and much better gfx. Just not my type because everything feels too handmade/restricted.

I doubt Elder Scrolls Online will be any good. Most of the big mmorpgs are kiddieland. I've mostly lost faith in big scale mmorpgs. Indie mmorpgs are my only savior. I still love to play single player and old games.

Most players want their mmorpg on rails and like a shoot-em-up. Too bad. But it's the truth. Whether it's because they don't have enough time or it's because they're just not interested enough, who cares. Thing that matters to me is jumping off the themepark ride asap out into merciless danger and doing my own thing. Unfortunately, that means the vast majority of big games don't interest me whatsoever. They may have some more dangerous rides but they're still rides and it's still a themepark and I'm stil bored as sh**.

this will be a terrible rape of what was otherwise an awesome franchise. the amount of pandering to the casual gamer it will take to make it a successful title will all but destroy everything that is great about TES. i will not support this game or any who play it. keep TES single player imo

This. I am at least grateful that this won't be impacting Bethesda's ability to develop their single player series. Modding the single player series is half of my fun in TES. They provide a very solid structure and allow people to add basically anything they like onto that, which you can't really do in MMOs other than addons and UIs which don't really add any actual content.
The ability to mod TES games added INCREDIBLE longevity to them.

Without modding they're severely restricted. You can't do sh**. You're forever stuck with whatever brand of game the developers could get through the marketing and executive departments.

Sad thing is, they'll probably make some money with the online game. And as many fear, they'll start to wonder why they were doing single player when online play was available over 10 years ago.

Once they get a whiff of online gaming, they'll be like a slut who's just done it for the first time. Oh well, you know nothing lasts forever. We can look at the TES games as the glory days. Happens all the time.

If things don't work out for TES, somebody else will step up. Always happens. That's the thing that keeps humanity going. Otherwise, we'd be f***** and probably raping each other and living in a rainforest.

i spent ALOT of hours on morrowind and it had huge replay value. I dont see how you guys felt that you had to have mods, that was a great game.

of course if you have aspergers and must play video games 16 hours a day and had nothing to live for after beating morrowind i could see where the mods would fill that void.
