i don't have any problems playing in front of my live-in girlfriend during downtime, but i'm delighted to hop off the computer when pretty much any opportunity presents itself in terms of dinner/drinks/shows/work/friends/date/rl whatever.

I remember my gf asking what game I was playing once. I felt ashamed to be playing a wizard / hobbit fantasy game, but then she said she used to read LOTR and Terry Brooks novels when she was a kid so she thought the idea of playing a Wood Elf Druid would be cool. I definitely dodged the bullet on that one.

However, she's more into adventuring around, buffing newbs, being protector of crush bone and tradeskilling. Not a serious "gamer-type" at all. I think she got scarred forever when a group member flamed her in public for wiping them in KC.

All in all, I think she's just happy to have me sit there on the couch and play my game next to her rather than be out late at the bars with my friends. LOL.

Just because you dont play in front of her doesn't necessarily make you a good bf. I'd say the fact that you are unable to play in front of her just says that A) you obviously dont live together, B) You likely haven't been together that long, and possibly C) she is needy. I think what these guys were getting at was that if you have to hide your gaming from her there is an issue there, but you obviously dont so I don't see an issue.

my gf knows I play, doesn't mind when i do when she's over. i generally leave the computer off when shes around though unless we're watching a movie, or if she wants to watch me play. Yes, this does happen, she likes this game.
