Darkfall1 had the greatest pvp ever.
Darkfall 1 at its end had less people on it than red99, which is why they had to completely remake their game

This game is such a fail that they haven't even figured out character persistence in the codedrop which was supposed to be good for launch. It's not even a beta. I cannot even imagine the issues which will make it into the release... of another boring ass game.

My only regret is that I let them take my money twice and I'm still playing eqemu. Shame on me.

I tried to login again yesterday and ended up with a black screen at character creation. After crtl alt deleting a few times, I was finally able to shut down Darkfall.

I hope my computer is okay and no permanent damage was done.

Right but Darkfall was just a shell of a skeleton of a sandbox

You could see that there could be potential, but nothing more

To me anyway
agreed, this new one might be better now that theyve cashed in on the first one

It definitely didn't have less than red99, but it wasn't because the pvp was bad anyway.

I disagree.

Some aspects of the pvp was good, but watching any of the hardcore pvp videos, you can see just how horrible the pvp and gameplay really was.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv_8UF8lbX0

You had to juggle 2 dozen short duration buffs, while literally binding every ability in the game. Every player had every skill, so it was nothing but a clone war until the bitter end. There was next to no diversity. Yes, a great deal of skill was involved in aiming, twitch and mastering every school of magic and somehow managing to find logical bindings for that many abilities. Its just trash that a game would fail to create some sort of limitations on how many abilities you can truly be proficient in at one time ("roles": skill caps): thus, the gameplay sucked hard.

There were maybe a dozen buffs if that (only 2-3 of them really necessary), and most of them lasted 10-15 minutes+. The gameplay took an incredible amount of skill and yeah, there were a lot of keybinds, so what? No other MMO even begins to touch it. It was incredibly rewarding to beat people, especially when heavily outnumbered.

I've also never understood the whole "there HAVE to be coded roles in the mechanics of the game" thing. Everyone had their own individual playstyle and in a strong coordinated group everyone knew their role.

The combat was simply amazing. It's just a shame AV took too long to fix the grind, bugs/exploits from early on, and add more sandbox fluff.

Have to agree, I need to feel like a special unique little snowflake.

All the races and classes in EQ, and all the races/classes/runes (think sub classes) in Shadowbane made the game.

Not interested in rock vs rock vs rock clone wars.

I am hearing that this new darkfall is already dissolving into one giant afk macro grind though, so thats that.

Even Ultima Online had a skill cap, and thats what made the game amazing and diverse. YES, you can pick your skills and be your own character (even though a large portion of the population picked the same 2 or 3 builds), but when you allow everyone everything, its just a game of who capable of utilizing and binding the most abilities, not who is actually good and picking which abilities are useful in which situations. Everyone was everything always... if they were good. I've watched dozens of videos, and every good player does the same thing, wearing the same armor, casting the same spells, using the same weapons. Min/Max to the extreme.

Macroing in the new Darkfall is pointless. It will take a matter of weeks to get your skills up, even legitimately. I macro'd transfers and some abilities up to max in less than two days while I was sleeping. Thats a fraction of the old grind.
