Thanks, this is way better than obsessively clicking Sense Heading to max it.
Wish I'd known this before I obsessively clicked the Sense heading button to max it...way back when I was levels 1-7.[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

You can always put the sense heading spam into a different window.. and close it >.<. Also - as someone who played classic with no compass and blah blah thrown into a game with little to no reference.... I still have my binders full of old school hard copy EQ atlas maps... and yes I do still use them. Yes taking the compass out made it more classic, no it's not a huge deal to work around it - here are a couple ways to find your direction without the UI compass. Buy the item "A compass" - they're sold all over. Drop a weapon on the ground - it always points north.

Finally my best suggestion is to bind sense heading to a movement key, filter the chat to a new chat window and minimize it if the spam really bothers you, and get used to it =). As a newb back in the day I remember spending no less than 2 hours getting from gfay to the bb docks. It's just the way it was.... // sense heading + reference map = better than UI compass //

Also have people forgotten how to use /location ?

lol, chucked my maps when I bought the PDF, which died with some forgotten disk drive.

Still, Sense Heading and /loc are plenty when you don't already know the landmarks, loss of compass is just an annoyance really, not a handicap. (And the in-game compass item seems pretty worthless, waste of time.)

Saves you from having to use sense heading at all?

fact is rogean doesnt play on this server

fact is rogean gets a sick sense of power in makin these seemingly minute and small changes knowing full well he is just making this already TEDIOUS as fuck game even more tedious and annoying by doing this

yea no compass is not such a huge deal but the real issue is the devs ongoing power trip (esp. rogean who admittedly doesnt give 2 shits about this server)

so this is basically devs way of saying FUCK YOU hope you like it this is FREE better not complain

so touche. fuck you devs

I dunno about you, but when I'm doing anything other than nothing at all, having to alt+rightclick or rightclick+hold and find the correct line to read in a damned popup item description window that obscures a significant chunk of screen is pretty much worthless. Nevermind having to keep a bag open (or worse use an entire inventory slot.) Sense Heading is mildly annoying when it fails even at 200 skill (and courtesy of the absolutely horseshit RNG here seemingly half the time failures are repeated :sigh: ) In comparison, the in-game compass item is crap, junk, garbage, & etc. not worth the space it takes up in a bag. Relying on it is a good way to die and lose your corpse while you're at it. It's bad design, brought to you by the creatorrs of the hybrid xp penalty and cultural armor boots that won't kick half the mobs in the game.

/loc on a hotkey all by its lonesome is far better than the in-game compass.

Oh, btw, did I mention that I find the in-game compass item to be pretty much worthless?

I understand both sides of the argument, and this isn't a big blow to my playstyle.

However... it just seems petty, like spell sets. Yeah they're not classic, but hindsight tells us they are nice to have.

If I could keep one non-classic feature, it would be spell sets and the right-click spell interface. Gawd I hate having to actually keep the spellbook organized.

To all the 'Takes up a slot!' people... Are all 4 of your hotbars really full?

Don't you have to have these hotkeys set up the same exact way on all your chars? The key bindings doesn't appear to be character-based.
