GM for the day

With free reign? I would be a fair, but zero tolerance GM kind of like this:


1) I would issue a one-time warning to anyone who is racist, sexist, homophobic, or insults the staff either in game, on the forum, or on IRC. If they continue, I would IP ban them and permanently delete all of their characters.

2) I would flag the most inappropriate names in game. I would tell them that they have one chance to come up with a better name that isn't against the rules, and if they fail to do that I would put their character in suspension until they write an email with a new appropriate name and an apology for wasting a volunteer GM's time. I would have to be more leniant than I usually would though, or the server's population would be around 12.

3) I would go through all of the most stupid petitions and suspend their characters indefinitely, until they again write an email explaining why they were giving the volunteer staff of a free game a hard time, and why they wont do it again in the future. If the give a fair reply they are free but with the understanding that their one get out of jail free card is now used. If they continue to be stupid I would IP ban them and delete all of their characters.

4) I would work through the backlog of petitions from reasonable people and try my best to resolve their problem.

If I had any time left over after that, I would arrange some fun GM events and I would start work on a jail system that I saw on another server, to help deal with the above points in the future.

Yes heaven forbid people stopped calling each other faggots and spamming ****** ****** ******! in IRC and naming their characters wotwotinthebutt, and insulting Amelinda, and posting hardcore gay porn, etc.. I know it would be very hard for some of you to adjust to treating each other with some civility, but I'm sure you would cope in the end. And quite frankly if you couldn't accept what I said above (which is totally reasonable) then you shouldn't be mingling with the public anyway.

I didn't say that because you wanted people to stop talking that way, I said it because your methods for going about enforcing the rules were far too harsh. Especially the in-game name thing. Right where you said:

My methods of giving everyone a fair chance and a fair warning? My methods are more lenient than real life. Go up to a cop and call him a faggot ****** who is fucking your life with a dildo (IRC paraphrased) and see whether he gives you a chance.
