I didn't play on PvP servers, but my guess is that farming platinum was much more difficult there, keeping downward pressure on prices.

Honestly though, as I've said before, the prices for *decent* items like fbss/sbs seem to be roughly pegged to how long it takes to camp them, and how much straight plat you could farm in that time.

If you can farm plat at a rate of 1.5k/hour, and it takes 6 hours to camp an FBSS, why would you want to sell it for less than 9k?
Supply and demand > how long it takes to camp. If its not time efficient to camp it then people wouldn't camp it, they would farm plat or camp something else, only people who would camp it would be those wanting to use it and not able to farm plat.

Its either in huge demand from twinks, or people don't mind a 12k price due to too much plat (plat competition) or its not being farmed much (not likely) or a combination of one or more of those.

Whatever the issue is, its pretty bad for attracting newer players to the server and keeping them, especially warriors.

General knowledge about game mechanics, the *type* of
EQ player this server attracts (usually the more dedicated ones), knowledge about future items and how they compare to present items, how much the playerbase knows about *how* to make a lot of money very quickly...

The human element on p99 is a completely different animal from what it was on live in 99/2000/2001.

Prices are a function of an aggregation of human choices and have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that it's the same game.

Yeah, I think 11-12k for an FBSS is a little high. But if you realize that an FBSS is basically a standard mid-range twink item for *every single melee class* and is pretty much *the* standard haste item until you do some decent raiding or make the massive stack of plat for a COF/RBG etc...an FBSS is easily worth 10k given how much it helps your character, particularly at lower levels. Other than a regen item, haste is the single biggest enhancer for a melee class. So complaining about the price of an FBSS on p99 is kind of silly to me. I've noticed a substantial drop in SotDb prices lately, which makes sense to me. People used to ask 25k for it while FBSS was 13-15. roughly 5-6 more % haste and 2 ac isn't worth 10k, but 21% haste is worth 10-14 (esp given no real alternatives until level 46).
