What are the chances I could brick it? Fairly high? Or... not so much? Haha, I am poor and paranoid.
Dont take JUST my word on it, do your own reading, but I have yet to find someone on XDA forum who bricked an eris for any reason shorting of dropping it. Worst case, a total reinstall is usually always possible via recovery console.

I have on authority (one of my good friends is working on the project), that they're working on releasing a mobile version of EQ2.
Seriously? I'm assuming it will be a standalone separate game geared down for mobile devices like they did with EQ1 when they made some cell phone games. I'm very interested in this though if it's actually true.

Shadow dude, you have me really interested in rooting my Moto Droid so I can overclock it for Quake... just afraid to brick it like everyone else! (especially since work paid for it!) Which I'm sure is pretty unfounded and most people are just fine rooting it. I'm paranoid like Sinlea [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Th droid is the one device I seriously WOULDNT worry about bricking. Seriously, unless you set out to toss it in a fish tank or something you really cant. The MOTO Droid is a tough bugger, bad flashed, whatever its all really absolutly no issue.

I assume you running by now stock 2.1 correct? Then here ya go. Related downloads are all marked with the proper bar codes so just scan and go for file downloads on the droid, etc etc.

If you go ahead, i seriously cannon recommend Bugless Beast 1.0. Ive been with it for months now since earlier versions and this absolutely blows not only any custom rom out of the water but its engineered far better than google's own software! Pete the rom creator is super active, answers questions fast and updates are usually released in a matter of days or lately within mere hours. Im looking forward to a leak of Android 2.2 soon, as with 2.1 the rooted rom people will get theirs months ahead of time.

Best of all, enjoy, have fun.

The problem I had with iphone typing is that it didn't auto correct. President. You probably hate typing on it because of the errors. First of all you will get used to typing on a screen, and secondly, the Droid has auto-correct which is amazing.

But, all is moot when you get Swype.. the best keyboard mod out there! You just drag your finger to make words, rather than actual typing. It's awesome. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

ALright man you convinced me! Yep i'm on 2.1

So if for some weird and impossible reason something goes wrong... can I get it back into the "standard" build? Or if I wanted to switch back to the standard build - can I do that as well?

Man I really wanted to try Swype but it's in Beta I think and I couldn't get in initially. Has it opened up to more people now?

I'll see if I can beg a little more information from my friend who's working on the EQ2 mobile.

His little brother is my best friend, so I get my more "secret" information from him, but then again it's not necessarily as accurate.

ShadowWulf, I'm absolutely loving my upgraded phone. Cryanomod's wiki is one of the better Wiki's I've read through.

I would say I have a working knowledge of technology, but he made me feel extremely confident in what I was doing when I modded it.

Fatmagic:

They mod I installed atleast, had a built in feature that backed up your entire default settings before you installed the mod, that way if anything when wrong, you just booted the bootloader, and reset it to your backup.

Let me see if I can dig up the link. It was in beta, but the official beta apk file was floating around still letting people get it.

Edit: Found it.. this was the quick link: http://goo.gl/OwGl

OK so thanks to Shadow I rooted my Droid... very cool. I'm going to load Bugless Beast next cause it looks like an awesome ROM. I am using Titanium Backup first to back all my stuff up though.

Question - when I switch to BB V1, will I need to reload all my apps & settings? Or can Titanium Reload them?

Just bought an HTC Incredible yesterday. So far I love it! The only complaint I have is the battery life is short, but I have been messing with it all day, so I have to take that into account.
