As a Cleric, I am rarely charged for ports. Why? Because the porter knows that there is a pretty darned god chance that one of the Cleric's that they port now will be the Cleric that rezzes them later. I don't expect it, and am always willing to tip what I can, but the vast majority of the time my tip gets canceled out by the porter. And trust me, I remember the folks who have helped me out as I've leveled up in this game. You go out of your way for me, and I'll repay the favor in the future. At least that's the way I look at it.
As for making money as a Cleric, we do tend to lose out on vendor loot a lot. In a fast paced group with near constant pulling, we're sitting on our butts medding most of the time, and just don't have the time to get up and loot. Not if the group wants us to have enough mana to keep people from dying. Horses changed this dynamic a lot on Live, and I'd love to see them added to P1999. Wishful thinking, but one can dream, right? So tossing the Cleric some vendor loot from time to time is really appreciated. It's nice when people think about the Cleric when we're in a group situation that doesn't allow us to loot very often.
