4th. the hype is already dying down. everybody already knows the server is coming out. anyone who would schedule time off from work will not be leaving the server just because they couldn't schedule a monday off (also, they can just call in sick).

however ppl who begin to play the new games coming out will not look back for quite awhile. there is always a potential tweak, upcoming holiday, weekend out of town, raging wife, etc. reason to *not* release the server. But bottom line, it's ready. open it up and lets get this shit started. ppl will accept patches as the server goes on if everything isn't sparkly perfect. as darworth said, if it's not released soon, there will definitely be less ppl

The server is more then fine atm for a release.

I'd vote for the 18th, just because we could make some advertisement on boards across the Internet, with youtube videos etc. And I guess the server will need as many players as we can get. November 4th would be at very short notice...

The only "promotion" is really just Pep Rallys for us and those who already lurk around here waiting.

Besides nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd, let the real promotion be when they hear 500+ logged in playing Red. Hearing 30 people on the beta won't be attracting anyone new.

I highly doubt that. The whole P99 community knows about it and most players from other custom servers know about it. But there are certainly many more who might be interested in playing on P99 Red, Blue, whatever. The devs are going the right way with their production of Youtube vids. And we can cross-post in other communities - don't underestimate how many people you may attract with a single thread! Server pop is essential for our long-term fun.

I'm a good example myself: I had been looking for a classic EQ experience for a very long time, and I had followed the EQClassic project. Still I only found out about P99 8 long months after initial release.
