It's an overall forum rule to dabble in staff v. player matters, which often goes on in R&F.

I do think dev's/staff go largely unappreciated and it's a shame. I don't know about you but I love this server and I find it highly unlikely there will be another like it. This could be the last time a populated classic server is around. Appreciate it, respect it, and don't fuck it up.

Agree'd. Recently the argument was brought up that the forums deterred new players. A couple days later a thread showed up in server chat started by a person who almost didn't join because of what he had seen here.. I'd imagine most people don't put in the effort to make a post asking if it's just the forums.

For what it's worth, I think that the forum community gives too much credit to those that "bash the developers". Perhaps I'm wrong, but I doubt the developers give anything short of a passing glance at "all of the grief thrown around about their decisions".

To be sure, humans have emotions and we are not surrounded by emotionless, rhinohide-skinned, robots. But, to be in the position that they're in they have long ago learned to not give it any credence.

Also, don't get me wrong, I'm sure some of the constructive criticism is considered. Especially the constructive criticism voiced through the proper channels. But, most of what is said (or at least what we read) is nonsensical...ranting and flaming, of which no one should give more than a passing glance anyway.

It's not that they're getting offended, of course they are not. It's that the behavior ends up wasting their time, and that people are spending more time on ranting and flaming than doing productive things for the server. Nilbog stated that pretty clearly in the IRC segment I quoted in my O.P.

True, and perhaps I missed your point originally. Nevertheless, if people are busy "ranting and flaming" I doubt they're the type of people that are going to be productive members of the community in the first place. Then again ... you know what they say about those who rage against the machine!

im still shocked players & the devs take rnf so seriously. as a regular rnf poster, everything i post is firmly tongue in cheek as im sure it is for 90% of the other regulars there.
