Funky that this is real. It's just a dumb old game, really.

The fact that every fan of the game that had tinkered around with new content, is now being slapped like as if they suck and have no value to the company, is a fantastic tell about the company we are dealing with.

It's not a gaming company, it's a gaming IP holding company with narrow restrictions on what can be done and when.

They didn't say anything about allowing server xfers.

If it's an IP-holding company, I don't understand why they haven't done anything new with the IP in going on 20 years. THJ and all these fans servers are a clear signal there's an un-served market here.

They are about to release their 32nd expansion to that IP, so I don't think it's accurate to say they haven't done anything.

It seems clear their business plan revolves around making money off Live (specifically off the "whales" that pay extra). Everything else in their business (including allowing classic emulators) is simply a means to drive more people toward the money-making engine that is live.

You can debate whether they could make more money with a different plan, but it's wrong to suggest they're not still trying to cash in.
