School loans are the most idiotic thing one can do. Graduating from college with a degree being in debt isn't wise. Jo smo from Bobs Crab shack making $14 a hour, and investing 8% into good growth stock mutual fund , will have more networth then you probably until your the age of 60. As far as free schooling. If you can get it power to ya. Some have integrity and don't want uncle sam paying for their shit. However, with the way our government gives shit out. You might as well bleed the beast and show a middle finger , integrity will only get you so far. Just be sure to develope a sense of value while your in college, because soon as you get out. Your eyes will be open once again.

You can't default student loans unless something changed, and if a parent co signed they'd get hit with the loans if she did.

I'm not worthy because I'm not working two jobs and was smart enough to go to the state for food money when I needed it? Wut? This is going to make me a less successful person in the future? Wut?

Yes, I do pay very very little tuition out of pocket. Sorry for earning scholarships when I was in High School? Why does this make me any less of a person?

I work a shit job with minimal hours because of classes. I pay my own rent, vehicle insurance, and whatever other expenses life may toss at me. I'd say I'm holding myself a lot better than most 21 year olds I know. All of that on a petite wage leaves me little money at the end of the month. They offer things like food assistance so people don't HAVE to get second jobs just to live. Two jobs + school would be absolutely miserable. I'm not going to put myself into that situation if I don't have to.

I don't pay for television, my mother is nice enough to pay for my phone while I'm in school, and internets is kind of a necessity when you're a student. I'm on the cheapest internet plan possible (Up to 1.5MB download speed!!!!). Believe me, I've cut down on my bills as much as possible. I just work a shitty job with limited hours because of school.

40 hours a week will just barely be enough to pay for rent and monthly food expenses. And that's the irony of it all.

The people who work are the people who SHOULD be eligible for government help; but they're the least likely to get it.

When I was basically homeless a few years back, staying at friends places, me and another dude (both white males in our mid 20s) went down to social services -- we were both denied any benefits - they wouldn't even give us food stamps.

We were the only 2 white people in the place -- and the black bitch at the booth next to me, with 4 screaming kids that she wasn't even watching -- was handed $1000 ***cash***

This one bitch I lived with was living in a ***3 bedroom apartment*** by herself. Me and my girlfriend moved in. As well as my buddy (the one I went to the welfare store with) and his girlfriend too.

All government paid -- heat / hot water paid for -- telephone service payed for -- $100 / week Benefit Card (food stamps) -- and $500 a month **CASH**

All that went to the person on welfare but we all reaped the benefits. We had 4 people living there working 30-40 hours a week, and none of us ever had to pay rent, electricity, heat, hot water or food.

I'd wager there's an inordinately high percentage of folks playing P99 who receive entitlements. I mean, it's a free server for a game that has probably dominated many of your lives for the past decade plus. Many of you play more hours each week than one would spend gainfully employed. There are a lot of addicts here, borderline personalities and just outright losers.
