Rap is proud, folk is humble.

Rappers are in competing violent gangs, folk singers aren't.

Rappers sing about petty things like making money, revenge, and status, folk singers sing about spiritual things like losing somebody you love.

Rappers sing about illegal activities like drug dealing and murder, folk singers sing about cookouts and bbq's.

Rap is played at violent sporting events like boxing matches and cage fighting where morons punch each other in the brain, folk is played at country fairs where families eat candy floss and toffee apples together.

Rap comes from a concrete jungle, folk comes from the great outdoors so it has the spirit of adventure.

Rappers call women hoes, whores, sluts and bitches, folk singers are respectful.

Rap music makes you angry and hostile, folk music will either make you cry into your beer or lift your spirits.

They'e both music though and they're both used to share fake news so in that regard they're no different.

Rich liberals have hijacked folk to send bad messages and make tons of cash for themselves. It's a big business now just like rap is.

When you're singing in front of 100,000 people selling merchandise and you need 1000's of low paid workers to help you setup your stage and carry your instruments for you then it's purely a business.

Music just like a lot of great things has been stolen, rap though can't change. rap, gangster rap that is, feeds off of fake news and folk doesn't have to so gangster rap is very shallow.

Wealth, equality, freedom...they all destroy gangster rap. The only way for gangster rap to survive in an equal world is for rich rappers to sing about the good old days when they were poor but nobody wants to be poor. Not the same with folk. Folk can be about the past, present and the future.
