They have a wide range of deity selections for depth of roleplay potential, can start in any of the three main hubs for variation in early game experience and their low stats mean you have more opportunity to improve your character (it is pretty boring when your stats get capped too quickly). They're bad so it prewarns group members that you are a bad player that makes bad decisions, which manages expectations nicely.
