Never had a problem finding groups on my wizard when I wanted them. Stun, root and snare are all powerful tools in any dungeon group and being able to blow up a mob in a second comes in handy. Not to mention evacs for when your group gets trained.
i actually did, hence the fears and worries about the class that I have. This was early on in Green though and I got as high as 24, entirely on my own because no one wanted me in their groups. I even spent a whole day running across the world trying to get into them. Unrest, then Mistmoore, then Upper Guk, then SolA, then Perma, etc etc...

It was very depressing, lol.

Ideally all of those tools would be very powerful to a group but in practice it just doesn't feel that way I suppose. At least not enough to justify my spot over, say, an enchanter or a shaman.

Well, it also helps to have game knowledge too, not just about the class, but about the other classes, the camps, mechanics, zones, etc. There are more than a few crappy shamans and enchanters on these servers that can ruin a group just as easily. The first step to D.E.N.N.I.S.ing a group is to Demonstrate Value.

Well last bit from my experience maining a wizard from 2000-2007 on live. Once PoP landed soloing wasnt as effective because you needed to get trials and keying done. What worked for me is what most people already said in this thread, i would check the camps and start forming my own group. It's amazing how much people hate doing this themselves, alot of times there's basically a ready group that just didnt take the time to talk to each other.
Being able to port everywhere and being an effective soloer is amazing tho. I don't think i would have stuck with EQ is i picked a group dependent class, i just don't have the patience to sit around waiting for 5 other ppl to want to do something.
In the end of the day, the grind is real even if it's way easier here on p99, if you don't pick a class you love playing, you're probably gonna give up on it. Maybe that's why my necro is currently siting at 57 and my wiz is already 53 lol. Anyway, good luck and play a class you love, in the long run that's all that matters.

Social anxiety mostly, I don't know how Mr. person-around-my-level-five-zones-away is going to react to me asking them if they want to group. Organizing a bunch of people, leading them somewhere, acknowledging them and keeping them happy...it does tend to cause me RL headaches. As silly as it might be to some, it really is hard for some people.

Well just like anything, it gets easier the more you do it. The worst that can happen is they say no. Besides, there's strong science out there that shows one of the most effective ways to avoid getting dementia in old age is to consistently challenge yourself to do things you'd like to do, but are afraid of doing.

The worst they can say is no, followed by some day-ruining toxicity, and the attracted attention of someone that will potentially screw with you later. It has happened.

But yeah, I'm just not that strong of a person. I wish I was. I still remember badly the time I tried to lead a raid group in WoW. My head still kinda hurts thinking of how horribly that went, and just thinking of leading anything right now kind of makes my heart race.

I'll start a group with you this weekend. I've got a 24 necro.
