The fact that you think everyone who doesn't agree with you is a troll suggests... lol... why should I even point it out? You won't believe it. You already know everyone is toxic but you. The world is out to get you. Nothing else could explain it!
I'm open do discussion and disagreement. I don't posit that everyone's out to get me. I'm just voicing an opinion about the state of the community and explaining why I'm backing away from something I'd hoped would be a more or less copacetic and chill experience.
Not my fault I ran into all the assholes at the onset.

My hope is that one person sees this thread and it causes them a .5 second delay before they go full retard, because the people moving the (non boxed) polygons in front of you are actual people.

My experience on Green and Teal has been great. Have grouped with new people, people around me have been helpful and us helpful to them and have made new in-game friends.

I played for about 6 months on Blue after coming back to EQ after ~20 years, and enjoyed it for the most part, but was really looking forward to a fresh start. I ran into my fair share of asshats, only got involved with GMs twice after trying to reason with blatant douchelords, but was ok with the general population.

I had a feeling when the news of "Green" was posted on IGN and Kotaku to name a few, that a lot of trolls, griefers and min/maxers would go through the trouble of setting up the client, downloading patches and provisioning accounts, just to be douches. I was not wrong.
When Teal opened, I figured that'd probably sort some chaff from the wheat. I was wrong.

Between camps being rolled over because "population is too high", people ninja looting while waiting for a dead group member to get back to loot (from Surefall to Blackburrow... calm your tits), and being bitched at about being under-geared (in full banded with a combine weapon at lvl 12, 24 hours in) made me realize that it really does take a few bad apples to fuck everyone's day.

And the "kthnxbai" respondents are likely the same assholes (or their enablers) that I'm talking about.

TL;DR:
Some people are just miserable cunts who take pleasure in ruining others fun. If this hadn't been a magnet for said people, I'd still be playing.

Well, you sound like a dismissive asshole, sorry you're terrible at empathy.
Why is it that posting anything negative about the community automatically makes you a whiny bitch?

Lesson learned, either be cowed and put up with assholes, or play something else entirely and remove yourself from the community.

Pretty sure I have some screenshots depicting the bullshit, if I do I'll post some examples.

That said I'm genuinely happy that the majority of your experiences have been positive. Carry on.

OP, are you a woman? Because usually its a woman who bemoans how toxic everyone else is, and if you know the person you know its really they that are the problem. They are bitches and treat everyone shitty, and when someone gets the nuts to tell them to fuck off they get all flummoxed and act like they are the ones being attacked. Then they desperately search for white knights to come to their rescue (like this post). Not always women, but usually.

If you are not a woman, do you eat a lot of soy?
Woman hater says what.

It's a video game you don't need empathy to play a video game

This is absolutely true of any single player game. The fact you don't believe empathy is a factor in an MMO illustrates my point exactly.

The truth is everyone is different and you're going to meet people of all types, many you like, and many you dislike. Same in the real world. Everquest isn't a special place that harbors toxic people, or maybe it is, but so is the rest of the world. Have to live them and agree to disagree or move on.

Level 35 and level 13 and only met one truly toxic situation where a rogue kicked out a party member to replace with a guildmate and refused to talk about it at all.

And that is pretty light as far as toxic situations go lol. I have seen much worse in some games.
