Anyone have the earliest patch note recorded online? Daolin? There has to be a consensus on this one. I havent seen anything from like at least 4-5+ months after launch, nothing up to that really so far. Planes was months after launch? 2? 3? That's maybe why they are so hard to find?

I think I might go through my old hard drives to see if I find anything interested. I saw that I still have a 2gb drive which is likely what I was using when EQ first came out. Maybe there's some text file with the recent patch notes.

Slight point of clarification: Nilbog's post was about the launch of P99, not the planes (I just found it while looking for planes info).

But yeah if anyone can point me towards evidence of the launch of the three original planes, I'd appreciate it.

If I remember correctly, and that's a BIG IF, it wasn't mentioned in the patch notes. It was mentioned in game like a GM event. Something about a mysterious portal that has suddenly appeared in Feerrott.

That matches what I'm (not) seeing in the patch notes. Now I just have to track down a source for that ...

BTW in case anyone was wondering why I care about this stuff, I'm trying to sort out the "classic eras" for the wiki, and it seems likely that the introduction of Fear/Hate will be the start of an era (or maybe two).

I could just "cheat" and use the date from Nilbog's announcement, but ideally I'd like for the wiki to be able to point players to (at least some of) the same sources Nilbog used.

I've been looking pretty hard for the dates now because I really want to know too. I've noticed that not even the first changes to Fear are mentioned in the patch notes. Like how at first maybe during the first month you could bring in low level characters to twink. And there was this gold armor (Indocolite? or something) that was like a suped up version of Rubicite as in a plate that even Rogues could wear. I believe a rogue wore that armor in the first best of the best tournament and I remember thinking how unbalanced that was.
