Role-playing took a really big hit in the early 2000s when it became widely known that basenent dwelling sloths were mostly role-playing every female avatar in mmorpgs.

It hurt role-playing decisively and effectively because they were also so good at it.

There is a guy in our guild who, as far as I can tell, never breaks RP. He isn’t scared to pipe up either. If someone says good night before logging off you’ll see the standard “g’night!”, “cya”, “night”, then he’ll pop in with “So long, brave Talon! May your rest be undisturbed and your dreams filled with peace.” Always gives me a chuckle reading that. Mainly I feel bad for him though, as the RP is never reciprocated.

i can't speak for him, but I only ever rp'd to enetertain others and have my own fun while at it. I'd be happy knowing something I wrote made someone laugh or smile ^^
