While it may bring a totally different and far more intense raiding experience, EQ PvP has always been bullshit garbage because the game wasn't designed for it (Smedly said it himself). EQ classes are not and never have been balanced for PvP. If a Wizard wants you dead, guess what? You're going to die and there is really nothing you can do about it. Playing a Warrior, Rogue, or Monk in EverQuest PvP is akin to bringing grandma's station wagon to the Daytona 500.
While it may be funny to take someone's gear once you kill them, it was always an awful aspect of EQ PvP.

Actually, wizards weren't very impressive until manaburn. Even as a crappy druid, I could sit and stare at a wizard nuking his brains out and heal myself until he went oom and then watch him fall over dead from winged death.
Necros, on the other hand... yeah. I used to fight shadowknights all the time. Most of them had better gear than me (good team, evil team, etc.), and usually they won, although I was a good enough player that "winning" usually meant I ran like hell away as my mana and hit points started dropping into danger zones. And you know what? It was fun as hell. One of my favorite SZ war stories is coming upon four SKs in Dawnshroud Peaks and opening up a rain spell on them (most low level evils sucked and could be killed easily) only to discover that ALL FOUR OF THEM had harm touch up. Needless to say... well, at least it was a short corpse run!
EQ PVP requires more skills and tricks than any other game I've played, especially if you're going to play one of the weaker classes. I don't expect to ever rival the gaming fun I had getting my ass kicked on Sullon Zek.
