it's likely adding a +1 to a database counting how many of each item has been dropped so they can make sure too many don't enter the world and turn it off when the numbers get to what they're planning.

deathadd (1 turning into boolean "True" when read into the code) means the item is added at the death of the mob, instead of when the mob spawns. Deathadd is required to be true for Trivial (also boolean) to also be true.

Since these items are being enabled while the server is running via the rule system, deathadd also insures they have a chance to drop from any mobs already currently spawned.

The chance for the item(s) to drop is controlled by the loottable.
