I definitely agree Phenyo, A/A members are not likely to ninja loot or do some other equally sh!tty thing to you because they are time invested in the server (you cant get into either guild w/o being time invested in the server. IE level 58+, proper gear, ect)

The only thing I would disagree about is 'A/A doesn't stop other guilds from competing'. With the level of experience and coordination A/A has it really isn't fair to new players or guilds. That's why the R/C rotation was developed in Kunark, the staff realized there were 2 very separate and distinct levels of play on the server. This has not changed.

If your only solution to the inequity in nToV experience is 'git gud' then that's your opinion and it will likely never change. I think the staff keeps thinking that eventually A/A will burn out and dragons will not be kill IMMEDIATELY on spawn, but I think that's a pipe dream. Current raid scene is pretty shitty for anyone outside A/A I am sure.
While I would agree that there is inequality in the raid scene there's nothing stopping the other guilds putting in the same amount of time and effort. I don't think people appreciate how much dedication it takes from so many people to track and kill dragons. The game just wasn't designed with participation medals in mind, those that are willing to go that extra mile for their goals are rewarded (just like real life!) so 'git gud' is very much applicable. Yes, the level of experience possessed by the A/A crew may be greater but so is their effort. These guilds practice long and hard because they are just that immersed in being as good at dragon killing as they can be.

This suspension has given the other guilds on the server a great gift in that they have 2 earthquakes (maybe even 3?) and 20 days of usual respawns to learn and practice. Will they use this time to hone their raid forces and make effort to compete or will they take it as free loot and revert back to complaining about server bogey men when the suspensions are over. Hard to say but I know i'm putting my money on.

why is that level of effort/dedication necessary or good?

cause that's just how life is, survival is all about being better than the competition and Whether or not we agree with it is arbitrary. A socialist norrath would never work (in my opinion) but it would be an amazing experiment to try.

right about RL, but this is a video game. plenty of servers have/have had rotations, including this one. weren't A/A rotation the crummy ntov dragons recently as well?

why is competition good?

Competition makes people try harder to succeed and thus perform better. Someone who wins a competition is generally better than someone who loses. Law of nature.

not everyone can play 4 hours of Everquest a day, unlike the hardcore "casual" mentality of Phenyo's guild Kitten who meows
